First launched in 2007 in Lowell, the Centers for Children program is helping to link a statewide system of healthcare accessibility for children needing subspecialty and developmental care. Both clinics were previously housed at The Children's Clinic of Jonesboro.

Dr. Stephen Bates: Playing for the NE Arkansas Home Team

Pediatric Neurologist Stephen Bates, MD, directs the Neurology Clinic, which is held Monday through Friday at the UAMS/ACH Centers for Children in Jonesboro. He also is a professor of Pediatrics in the UAMS College of Medicine. Patients of the Neurology Clinic at the UAMS/ACH Centers for Children in Jonesboro will also be able to undergo EEGs on-site that will be read by Dr. Bates.

Dr. Bates has been a fixture in the northeast Arkansas community for quite a while, having operated an ACH/UAMS regional pediatric neurology clinic in Jonesboro from 1988-2003. Since 2004, he has been in pediatric neurology practice with the Children's Clinic of Jonesboro.

The Neurology Clinic is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the peripheral and central nervous system. Patients with seizures or epilepsy receive comprehensive evaluations. EEGs are available.

The Cardiology Clinic will provide consultation and diagnosis of children with possible heart conditions and provides follow-up care for children with known cardiac problems. Echocardiography, ECG, Holter and event monitoring will be available on site beginning October 2012.
